December 2022, I met Heilyn in a coffee shop. We sometimes catchup when she comes back to Vietnam on her holidays. After a few small talks about recent incidences in our lives, we bumped into the design topics. We found out that we both want to share our experiences to the design community. That is the origin story of how I landed myself on the great UX event organized by FPT Software.
Just within 1 month, the organizer team was able to form the speaker list, venue, content and communication plan. It turned out to be an offline event at 2 locations: Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh. I couldn’t believe that we can make it so quickly that I found myself surprised at how everything can magically happen within a month.
Da Nang
It is my first time joining such a big event happening in 2 cities. I took a flight from HCM to Danang on a Saturday morning, carrying a tote bag and optimistic thoughts. The sky was so beautiful that I couldn’t help myself from taking photos and videos.
Da Nang welcomed me with a cool breeze on a cloudy day. After having lunch at Lady Lân, a nice restaurant by Han river, I headed to the venue of the event. As soon as I arrived, I was so amazed at hour the event was set up.
A banner was placed right in front of the venue, followed by some standees along the way to the conference room.
Jon and Van, the co-speakers, were already there to practice with the clicker.
The room was filled with hundreds of young designers soon and we kicked start. Jon opened the show with his sharing on “Creating Harmory between Designers, Developers & Stakeholders”, followed by Van with “Case studies on banking project” and Heilyn with “Storytelling in UX Design”. All of the topics are very informative and carefully constructed.
It soon came to my part. The nervousness occupied my brain that I was a bit shaky at the beginning. I decided to ask everyone in the room to stand up and do a little exercise to break the ice. It was the right decision because the audiences seemed to enjoy the activities and got shaken up after hours of sitting. I then could nicely weave in to the topic “User research for B2B website”, during which I saw many people took photograph of my slides with their phones.
I’m blessed that the talk was well received and I was able to connect with the audiences through some small jokes. We then smoothly moved to the Q&A session and finally the group photoshoot to wrap up the event. It was a great pleasure to see happy faces and receive thanks from the participants.
Ho Chi Minh
A few days later, we organized the same event in Ho Chi Minh city. It took place at a cinema theatre, which was so cool. The format is still the same and this time we still received many interesting questions from the audiences.
In the end, I’m so glad to be part of this activity that I can see so much value we can bring to the design community
The event surely marks a significant milestone to my design career. I hope that this 2023 year will give me more opportunities to share and inspire young generation in the creative field.
